How much will money I make?
No professional automotive repair experience is required. A Junior Automotive Mechanic can make between $30,000 and $45,000 per year. The Junior Autmotive Mechanic position is designed to train and prepare the individual to become an ASE-Certified Automotive Service Technician. What are the Hours?
We work Monday – Friday from 7:45AM – 5:30PM with up to a 1-hour lunch. We believe our employee’s weekends should be open to spend time with family and friends, that is why we are not open on the weekend.
What are the work Expectations?
The Junior Autmotive Mechanic will learn to do these Duties/Responsibilities:
- Identifies mechanical problems, either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment.
- Performs tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function; ensures that all critical parts are examined.
- Performs routine and preventive maintenance, including oil changes and tune-ups.
- Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems, such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
- Performs further tests, which may include test driving the vehicle, to ensure repairs are completed correctly.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Preferred Skills/Abilities
- Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured by our auto insurance.
- Basic knowledge of all aspects of vehicle repair.
- Basic mechanical repair skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
- Familiarity with computer diagnostic equipment and software.
- Ability to read service and repair manuals.
- Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
- Ability to read work orders.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- ASE Certification A1 through A8 preferred.
- 0 to 3 years of related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
- Must be able to inspect vehicle to determine repairs needed.
- Good vision to inspect repair work.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
